Order quota and overage
What counts as an approved order in the plan's quota, how overage is charged in blocks of 50 and what the quota notice banners mean.
Each Vipter plan includes a number of approved orders per cycle: the quota. Past the quota, each additional order costs the plan's extra order price. The prices of each plan are in Plans and limits.
The quota belongs to the owner's account and adds up the approved orders of all their stores. The quota cycle is the same as the monthly fee's: it starts and ends with the paid period.
What counts as an approved order
An order counts each time a payment is approved in one of your stores:
| Counts | Doesn't count |
|---|---|
| One-time sale | Order bump: the items go into the same order |
| First charge of a subscription | Start of a trial period with no charge |
| Each subscription renewal | Card validation with no charge |
| Each purchase accepted in the one-click upsell | Orders from the demo store and exempt stores |
| Each subscription extra charge | |
| Each sale made from the dashboard on the saved card | |
| Order marked as paid by hand | |
| Purchases made on a test connection |
Refunds don't give quota back
A refunded or charged-back order still counts. Test purchases count too, even on a test connection. Run your tests before going public and don't overdo it, see Test the store before selling.
Track the quota
Open Vipter plan from your profile picture menu. The Cycle quota card shows the cycle's period and:

- Approved orders: the cycle's orders against the plan's quota, with a bar.
- Orders above the quota and Overage this cycle: how many orders went past the quota and how much they add up to so far.
- 38 orders to the next overage charge.
- Overage charges: each charge already made, with the order range, the amount and the status.
The count is refreshed every 10 minutes and whenever the plan page opens.
How overage is charged
The overage is charged every 50 orders above the quota; the rest closes with the cycle.- Blocks of 50: when the orders above the quota complete a block of 50, Vipter charges the block to the plan's card. If several blocks closed since the last charge, they go out in a single charge.
- Cycle close: at the end of the cycle, the remainder that didn't complete a block is charged, marked as cycle close.
- Nothing is charged twice: each charge covers a range of orders, such as Orders 1–50, and the next range starts where the previous one stopped.
Example on Start (quota of 200 and extra order at R$ 1.20). With 262 approved orders in the cycle, 62 went past the quota. At the 50th order above the quota, Vipter charges orders 1 to 50: R$ 60.00. At the end of the cycle, it charges the remaining 12: R$ 14.40.
The status of each charge:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Created, waiting to be charged. |
| Charging | Being charged to the card now. |
| Charged | Paid. |
| Failed | The card declined. Vipter tries again. See Past-due payment and blocked sales. |
| Waived | Vipter waived the charge. |
The quota notice banners
The banners show at the top of every store page, for the whole team. The Manage billing link only shows for owners and admins.

- From 80% of the quota: You have used 170 of the 200 orders in this cycle.
- Above the quota: 12 orders above the quota in this cycle. The overage is charged every 50 orders.
The store keeps selling normally above the quota. What stops sales is an overage charge declined several times, see Past-due payment and blocked sales.
Change plans mid-cycle
When you change plans, the new plan's quota and extra order price apply to the cycle. Overage already charged is not refunded. If you often go past the quota, compare the cost of overage with that of the next plan in Plans and limits.
Common problems
-
The quota went up after a test purchase
Test purchases count, and a refund doesn't give quota back. There is no way to remove a test order from the count.
-
The quota count doesn't match the home dashboard
The quota adds up all the owner's stores and all types of approved order in the plan's cycle, which doesn't match the calendar month. The home dashboard shows a single store, in the chosen period.
