Connect Pinterest Ads

Send checkout visits, leads and purchases to your Pinterest tag, from the browser and through the Conversions API, including PIX paid after the page was closed.

Admin or OwnerAll plansVerified on Sep 28, 2026

With Pinterest Ads connected, the Pinterest tag fires on the checkout and the thank-you page, and the Pinterest Conversions API sends the same events from the server. The purchase is reported when the payment is confirmed, including a PIX (Brazil's instant payment) paid after the buyer closed the page. Both deliveries carry the same event identifier.

Before you start, it helps to read how conversion tracking works.

Before you start

  • An ad account in Pinterest Ads Manager with a tag created, and admin access to it.
  • The Admin or Owner role in the Vipter project.
  • At least one product created in Vipter.

Step 1: copy the IDs and generate the token in Pinterest

You need three pieces of data, all in the conversions area of Pinterest Ads Manager:

  1. The Tag ID, numbers only.
  2. The ad account ID, the number of the account that owns the tag.
  3. The conversion access token. Generate the token in the same area and copy it.

Keep the token safe

With the token, anyone can send conversions to your ad account. Paste the token only into Vipter. Once saved, it is stored encrypted and not shown again; the screen only shows its last characters.

Step 2: connect the account in Vipter

  1. In the Vipter dashboard, open GeneralConversionsAccounts and click Connect account. Choose Pinterest Ads.
  2. Fill in the numbered fields. Test mode is under Advanced: test mode.

#FieldWhat to paste
1Tag IDRequiredThe Tag ID from step 1. Numbers only.
2Account nameOptionalA name to recognize the account, such as "Store Pinterest". If left blank, it is "Pinterest Ads".
3Conversion access tokenOptional · hidden once savedThe conversion access token from step 1. Without it, events only go out from the browser and a PIX paid after the page was closed is not counted.
4Ad account IDOptionalThe ad account number from step 1. Required when you paste the token: without it, nothing goes out from the server.
5Test modeOptionalWhen on, server events are flagged as tests and Pinterest does not record them as conversions. Leave it off to sell.
  1. Click Connect and verify. Vipter saves the account and checks the ID's format. With the token filled in, it also sends an event flagged as a test to confirm the token and the ad account. That event doesn't become a conversion.
  2. Click Continue, check the products the tag should fire on and click Finish. Turn on Use automatically on new products to include products created later.

Step 3: verify and test

  1. Open the account in Accounts, on the Connection tab.
  2. Click Verify now to check the token again.
  3. Click Send test event. Vipter sends a 1.00 test purchase in the project's currency, always flagged as a test, even with test mode off.

It worked if

The verification shows Token accepted by the platform and the test shows Test event accepted by the platform (HTTP 200).. After the first real sale, the list also shows the first event received and the first sale sent from the server.

If you turned on test mode, turn it off in Connection and click Save.

  • Pinterest doesn't receive Shipping chosen, Renewal or Refund / chargeback.
  • Payment started and PIX generated both arrive as custom, and Pinterest can't tell them apart. If you want to use the custom event in a campaign, leave only one of them on in What to send.
  • Events carry the value, the currency, the order's items and, on the purchase, the order ID. From the server, the data checked in Matching data also goes, hashed with SHA-256.
  • In What to send, choose the events, the Conversion value and the Value currency. The details are in events and values.

Verify the domain with Pinterest (optional)

If the checkout uses a custom domain, you can verify it with Pinterest through the meta tag.

  1. In Pinterest, start domain verification with the meta tag option and copy only the code, the content value.
  2. In Vipter, open GeneralConversionsPreferences, paste the code into Pinterest (p:domain_verify) and click Save.
  3. Go back to Pinterest and finish the verification.

Common problems

  • Required on the Ad account ID field

With the token filled in, the ad account ID is required. Copy the number of the account that owns the tag.

  • Enter the ad account ID.

The account has a token but no ad account ID. Fill it in under Connection and click Save.

  • Token rejected by the platform

The token was revoked or belongs to another ad account. Generate another one and check that the ad account ID belongs to the account that owns the tag. Pinterest's response shows below the item.

  • Two Pinterest accounts on the same product receive each other's events

In the browser, the Pinterest tag delivers each event to every tag loaded on the page. To keep two accounts' numbers apart, use each one on different products.

  • Your plan does not allow another account sending from the server. Upgrade to connect one more.

Your plan reached its limit of accounts with server delivery. Remove the token from an account you no longer use or change plans in Vipter plan.
