Connect Reddit Ads (Pixel and Conversions API)
Send checkout visits, leads and purchases to your Reddit pixel, from the browser and through the Conversions API, including PIX paid after the page was closed.
With Reddit Ads connected, the Reddit pixel fires on the checkout and the thank-you page, and the Reddit Conversions API sends the events from the server. The purchase is reported when the payment is confirmed, including a PIX (Brazil's instant payment) paid after the buyer closed the page. Both deliveries carry the same conversion identifier, and Reddit counts each sale once.
Before you start, it helps to read how conversion tracking works.
Before you start
- A Reddit Ads account with a pixel created in Events Manager, and admin access to it.
- The Admin or Owner role in the Vipter project.
- At least one product created in Vipter.
Step 1: copy the pixel ID and generate the token in Reddit
- In Reddit Ads, open Events Manager and choose your pixel.
- Copy the Pixel ID. It starts with
a2_ort2_, such asa2_abcdef123456. - On the same pixel, open Conversions API and, under Set up manually, click Generate Access Token. Copy the token: Reddit shows it only once.
- To test before selling, open the same pixel's event testing and copy the test code (test ID).
Keep the token safe
With the token, anyone can send conversions to your pixel. Paste the token only into Vipter. Once saved, it is stored encrypted and not shown again; the screen only shows its last characters.
Step 2: connect the account in Vipter
- In the Vipter dashboard, open GeneralConversionsAccounts and click Connect account. Choose Reddit Ads.
- Fill in the numbered fields. The test code is under Advanced: test mode.

| # | Field | What to paste |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pixel ID | The Pixel ID from step 1, with the a2_ or t2_ prefix. |
| 2 | Account name | A name to recognize the account, such as "Store Reddit". If left blank, it is "Reddit Ads". |
| 3 | Conversion access token | The conversion access token from step 1. Without it, events only go out from the browser and a PIX paid after the page was closed is not counted. |
| 4 | Test event code | The test code from step 1, only while you test. With it, server events reach Reddit as tests. Delete it when you finish. |
- Click Connect and verify. Vipter saves the account and checks the ID's format. With the test code filled in, it also sends a test event to confirm the token.
- Click Continue, check the products the pixel should fire on and click Finish. Turn on Use automatically on new products to include products created later.
Without a test code, the token is confirmed on the first sale
Step 3: test
- With the test code saved, open the account in Accounts, on the Connection tab.
- Open the pixel's event testing in Reddit and click Send test event in Vipter. Vipter sends a 1.00 test purchase in the project's currency, which shows only as a test.
- Delete the test code in Connection and click Save.
It worked if
The verification shows Token accepted by the platform, the test shows Test event accepted by the platform (HTTP 200). and the test purchase shows in Reddit's event testing. After the first real sale, the list also shows the first event received and the first sale sent from the server.
What Vipter sends to Reddit
| Event in Vipter | Name in Reddit |
|---|---|
| Page view | PageVisit |
| Checkout started | AddToCart |
| Lead (contact filled) | Lead |
| Payment started | Custom, named AddPaymentInfo |
| PIX generated | Custom, named PixGerado |
| Purchase | Purchase |
| Subscription started | SignUp |
- Reddit does not receive Shipping chosen, Renewal or Refund / chargeback.
- Through the API, the names go in capitals, such as
PAGE_VISITandPURCHASE, and the custom ones asCUSTOM. It is the same event: Reddit joins the two. - From the browser, every enabled event goes out. From the server, Lead (contact filled), PIX generated, Purchase and Subscription started go out.
- Every event except Page view carries value, currency and item count. Events also carry the order's items and, when there is an order, its ID.
- In What to send, choose the events, the Conversion value and the Value currency. See events and values.
To find who clicked the ad, Reddit uses:
- the
rdt_cid, the click identifier Reddit adds to the ad's address, and the pixel's_rdt_uuidcookie; - the buyer's IP and browser;
- the e-mail, the phone and the customer ID, according to Matching data. From the server, they go hashed with SHA-256; in the browser, the pixel hashes them itself. Reddit does not use the name or the address.
The UTM script carries the rdt_cid and the _rdt_uuid cookie from your sales page to the checkout.
Common problems
-
Invalid format on the Pixel ID field
The ID must start with
a2_ort2_. Copy the Pixel ID again in Events Manager. -
Fill in and save the test event code first: without it the test counts as a real conversion.
Without a test code, the test purchase would count as a real sale. Save the test code from Events Manager and try again.
-
Token rejected by the platform
The token was revoked or belongs to another pixel. Generate another one in Conversions API and paste it in Connection. Reddit's answer shows below the item.
-
Two Reddit accounts on the same product receive each other's events
In the browser, the Reddit pixel delivers each event to every Reddit pixel loaded on the page. To keep two accounts' numbers apart, use each one on different products.
-
Your plan does not allow another account sending from the server. Upgrade to connect one more.
The plan has reached its limit of accounts with server delivery. Remove the token from an account you no longer use or change plans in Vipter plan.
What to do next
- Paste the UTM script on your sales page so you don't lose the ad's
rdt_cid. - Also connect Meta Ads or TikTok Ads.
Connect LinkedIn Ads (Insight Tag and Conversions API)
Record checkout steps as LinkedIn conversions, through the Insight Tag in the browser and the Conversions API on the server, with a pair of conversions per event.
Connect Snapchat Ads (Snap Pixel and Conversions API)
Send checkout visits, leads and purchases to your Snap Pixel, from the browser and through the Conversions API, including PIX paid after the page was closed.
