Connect ActiveCampaign
Create and update the contact in ActiveCampaign on every sale event, apply tags per event and per offer, and subscribe the buyer to a list without overriding anyone who unsubscribed.
With ActiveCampaign connected, every Vipter sale event creates or updates the buyer's contact by e-mail and applies the tags you set: one tag for the PIX generated, another for the approved purchase, another for the refund. ActiveCampaign automations start from these tags.
Before you start, read how automations work.
Before you start
- An ActiveCampaign account with access to SettingsDeveloper.
- The Admin or Owner role in the Vipter project.
- The names of the tags your automations use. Tags that don't exist yet are created on the spot.
Step 1: copy the API URL and key
- In ActiveCampaign, open SettingsDeveloper.
- Copy the API URL, such as
https://youraccount.api-us1.com, and the API Key.

Keep the key safe
This key can read and change every contact in the account. Paste it only into Vipter. Once saved, the field only shows its last characters.
To subscribe buyers to a list, also write down the list ID. The ID is a number and usually shows in the page address when you open the list in ActiveCampaign, such as listid=3.
Step 2: connect in Vipter
- In the Vipter dashboard, open GeneralIntegrationsCRM and email marketingActiveCampaign.
- Under Connection, fill in the numbered fields.

| # | Field | What to paste |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | API URL | The API URL from step 1. It must start with https://. |
| 2 | API key | The API key from step 1. |
| 3 | List ID (optional) | The number of the list the buyer joins on each event. Left blank, the contact is not subscribed to any list. |
| 4 | Default tags | The tags for the events left blank under Tags per event. It can stay empty. |
- Under Tags per event, enter the tags for each event, separated by commas.
- Under Events sent, uncheck what you don't want to send.
- Leave Active — send events to this platform on, click Save and then Test connection.
An example of tags per event:
| Event | Tags |
|---|---|
| PIX generated | pix-gerado |
| Order paid | cliente, comprou |
| Payment declined | cartao-recusado |
| Order refunded | estornou |
| Chargeback | chargeback |
| Order shipped | pedido-enviado |
| Subscription cancelled/expired | assinatura-cancelada |
| Abandoned checkout | carrinho-abandonado |
Step 3: use tags per offer (optional)
The offer rule says which product the person bought, such as curso-x. It is the tag that usually grants access in an ActiveCampaign automation.
- Under Tags per offer, pick the Offer.
- Enter the Tags, such as
curso-x. - Click Add rule.
Optional: the offer's tags join the event's when the purchase is confirmed (order paid, subscription created or renewed). Abandoned carts, PIX generated and refunds get only the event's tags. With the example above, whoever pays for Course X gets cliente, comprou and curso-x. Whoever abandons the Course X checkout gets only carrinho-abandonado, without the course tag. The rule also applies to the other offers of the same product.
What happens on each event
- Contact: created or updated by e-mail, with first name, last name and phone with country code. Only what the sale has goes along: a blank field does not erase what is already in ActiveCampaign.
- Tags: the event's tags and, on a confirmed purchase, the offer rule's tags.
- List: if you entered the list ID, the contact is subscribed to it. Anyone who unsubscribed from that list, or whose e-mail bounced, stays out: a purchase is not a new permission to receive e-mails.
Tags are never removed. A refund adds the refund tag, and your automation decides what to do, such as removing access and the course tag.
Test with a purchase
Generate a PIX in the checkout of an offer, with your e-mail, without paying. Then reload the ActiveCampaign page in Vipter.
It worked if
The PIX generated event shows as sent under Recent deliveries, and the contact shows up in ActiveCampaign with the pix-gerado tag.
Deliveries, retries and resend
- sent: contact, tags and list applied.
- skipped: the sale has no e-mail (
customer has no e-mail). - failed: a step failed. The reason starts with the step:
contact, tag "name"orlist. Temporary failures get automatic retries. A refusal from ActiveCampaign, such as a wrong key, is not retried.
After you fix the cause, use Resend. Repeating an event duplicates nothing: the contact is updated, and a tag it already has stays a single tag. See retries and resend.
Common problems
-
The platform refused the credentials
The URL or the key is wrong. The URL is the one on the Developer page, such as
https://youraccount.api-us1.com, with nothing after.com. -
Invalid value for this platform. in the list ID
The list ID only accepts numbers.
-
The contact did not join the list
They had already unsubscribed from that list, or their e-mail bounced. Vipter does not resubscribe these people, and the delivery still shows as sent.
What to do next
- Understand values per event and offer rules.
- For member areas with automatic access, see how member areas work.
Connect Google Sheets
Write a row to a Google spreadsheet on every sale event, with an Apps Script you deploy on your own account, without signing in to Google in Vipter.
Connect RD Station Marketing
Record every sale event as a conversion in RD Station Marketing, with the identifier you choose per event, and add tags per offer on purchases.
